In Islam, Prophet Yusuf (Joseph) is known for his exceptional beauty, wisdom, and unwavering faith in Allah. His life was full of trials, from being betrayed by his brothers to facing false accusations and imprisonment. Despite these challenges, his trust in Allah remained unshaken.
One of the most significant parts of the Story of Prophet Yusuf is his relationship with his brothers. Out of jealousy, they plotted against him and threw him into a well. However, Allah had a greater plan for Yusuf. A passer by rescued him and later became a respected minister in Egypt, demonstrating how patience leads to success.
The story also includes the famous incident between Prophet Yusuf and Zulaikha, the wife of the Egyptian minister. Zulaikha attempted to seduce him, but Yusuf remained steadfast in his faith. As a result, they imprisoned, but this hardship eventually led to his rise in power.
Yusuf spent several years in prison. While in jail, he gained a reputation for his piety and ability to interpret dreams. Two prisoners approached him, and he interpreted their dreams accurately. One of them the king of Egypt later released him and worked for him.
The king of Egypt had a disturbing dream that none of his advisors could interpret. The former prisoner remembered Yusuf and told the king about him. Yusuf correctly interpreted the dream, predicting seven years of prosperity followed by seven years of famine. Yusuf impressed the king that he appointed as the minister of finance to manage Egypt’s food supply.
During the famine, Yusuf’s brothers came to Egypt seeking food, but they did not recognise him. Yusuf tested them and eventually revealed his identity. He forgave them, and he reunited with the family in Egypt.
Yusuf’s parents and brothers later came to Egypt, and his dream from childhood was fulfilled as they bowed to him in honor, recognizing Allah’s wisdom and his journey from hardship to greatness.
