Usury is forbidden any way

Question

I am currently an employee in one of the interest-based banks. The service that I provide in the bank is to receive calls related to the customer’s account, and it is possible for me to be asked by the customer about a loan, and I calculate the amount that he can get if he submits an application, and I do not perform the transactions and procedures for providing the loan directly. Is the nature of my work considered disobedience for Allah?

Thank you.

Answer:

Praise be to Allah, and prayers and peace for the Prophet and his companion.

Usury is one of the great sins, but rather one of the seven serious offenses, and it is the sin that God called a war against him and his Messenger – may God bless him and grant him peace -. And it is forbidden through Holly Qur’an, The Prophetic Biography (Sunnah), and Preponderant Opinion (Al’ijmae). It is not permissible to help performing usury in any way.

The Messenger of Allah – may Allah bless him and grant him peace – cursed the one who consumes usury, the one who pays it, the one who writes it, and his witnesses, and said: They are the same. (Narrated by Muslim)

Al-Nawawi said: It is forbidden to help in the falsehood.

Therefore, the questioner has to repent to God Almighty, and leave his work, even if he does not undertake the same usurious transactions himself, because he helps them.
