Method of bathing after menstruation

Question:

What is the detailed method of purification for a woman after menstruation, and is there anything to be said during purity?

Answer:

Praise be to Allah, and prayers and peace for the Prophet and his companion.

When the woman sees one of the two signs of purity which are the white secretion or the dryness of the place of blood, she is pure, and she must have washing (Ghusl) and pray. And washing from menstruation is like washing from sexual intercourse, the description of bathing is what the two sheikhs narrated from Aisha, may God be pleased with her, she said “When Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) bathed because of sexual intercourse, he first washed his hands: he then poured water with his right hand on his left hand and washed his private parts. He then performed ablution as is done for prayer’. He then took some water and put his fingers and moved them through the roots of his hair. And when he found that these had been properly mois- tened, then poured three handfuls on his head and then poured water over his body and subsequently washed his feet.”

The woman must intend bathing from menstruation, then she should do like what was mentioned in the last Hadith. And she should not have to undo her hair as Umm Salamah narrated:

I said, “O Messenger of Allah, I am a woman who keeps her hair closely plaited. Do I have to undo them for Ghusl after sexual intercourse?” In another narration, “and after the end of menses?” He replied (ﷺ), “No, is it enough for you to throw three handfuls of water over your head.” Related by Muslim

There is no special saying for washing after menstruation, except that it is recommended to say at the beginning of Ghusl in the name of Allah. Allah knows best.
